This article is about the best volunteer job I can imagine--being a baby cuddler in an NICU. People are on the waiting list for years for this position and now even the waiting list has been closed. The photo shows a volunteer who waited almost ten years on the list before getting a call to come in cuddling one of the preemies and you can see just how small they are. Those little tiny hats and booties I knit really are the right size. NICU nurses have told me that to test the size I should put one of the hats on an orange or a lemon. That's how small these babies' heads are.
